Acrylic gouache watercolor 15x12Floppy boot flopping - stick jammed in and stirring up a fresh batch of glue from a small glass jar. Stir that glue and the old becomes new. Crustules caked around the corners of the mouth, sores neighbor the cracked crust but no stench... Jaw slacked, eye glazed and yet a trace of pride. Wild eyed he meets my reserved eye - he talks and I talk back ... no rules of engagement.

Very interesting look on this guy's face, so much he could be thinking, looks as though he's making a choice to do something? Also really enjoyed your writing.
No cents left? Centsless... I like this combo of media. (I think "mediums" is a better word)I enjoy the abstract backgrounds. The medium is the message.
Thx Jason.. Trying out some new techniques on this one.. I find traipsing into uncharted territory to be one of the greatest experiences for an artist.. especially this one. Achieved an interesting effect cutting back into the paint with a comb exposing the underpainting.
Hey Ron.. the cent sign was used for design purposes but the meaning is an added bonus. I too love experimenting and developing new backgrounds. If I see an artist's technique I like I will try to figure out the method for my own paintings. Beg, borrow or steal... you're all fair game.
Beautiful face. Reminds me of someone... what was that raggae singer's name? The one who liked smoking pot so much. This looks like him with shorter dreads.
Thx Silvina - he is like the glue reggae version. I was kind to him in my rendering.
Bob Marlin! Just came to me.
Yeah Silvina.. shorter locks than Marley's. I think this guy is headed for Mayleydom pretty soon if he doesn't get his snoot out of the Boxer. Most likely he is still in his early 20s and living in the 24/7 fog.
Like the jacket!
My brother got his deer pictures, I'll see them this weekend when I go visit the family.
Great Grimm.. the bro get the doe? I been thinking about those deer pics... maybe something interesting will come into focus.
Making the old new again...well, huffin might be the only vacation this guy gets. I used to sort of like it too when I was a kid building models, but now I don't do anything stronger than Elmer's.
Good use of the comb! - as we've seen in a few of the self-portraits, it doesn't get used much otherwise, heheh. But the real surprise is meeting the Bogota Pintor "en persona" and encountering a dashing rogue with movie star looks. But back to the ptg....the background is so appropriate, as it depicts what he likely saw as he turned his head toward you. Cent straight from the TZone, for our approval. Approved.
Amazing as always.. and your post "Candalaria gaS - and many other things" is superb!!..
Thx Nicholas.. I used to build models with Elmer's when I'd run out of the Testors. No wonder my models looked terrible and would fall apart at a sneeze. An old friend used to huff benzene in science class.. said he hallucinated take-off on an Apollo mission every time. He finally made it to the dark side of the Moon about 5 years ago. The background on this painting is an abstraction of the Transmilenio- a faux subway system in Bogota. But I'll swear he hallucinated himeself all the way to the mar. More texturing hijinx to come....
Thanks Bog... I worked very hard on "Gas" painting and it's nice when someone appreciates it. Lots more work on the board and in queue for this site.
Very nice picture,I like this, and I like de colors and the face of this man.
Salutation from Catalònia, adèu, my friend.
Hi Montse, thx for another visit - hope you return often - also a new work is coming up tomorrow. Adèu from Los Angeles...
Whoa, that's a cool idea . . . I'll have to try that sometime.
Jason if you're refering to the benzene ride.. well expect a short trip. New post coming....
